The key to developing a strong relationship with clients is through building trust and respect. I believe open communication, particularly listening and keeping the client informed are essential. We approach all projects in a professional and friendly manner and are confident in our skills. We accept that our clients are often specialists in their own field and have much to offer to the project
I am an experienced architect who have worked on more than 300 laboratory projects, I have won several architectural awards including the prestigious international S-Lab award multiple times. I frequently present at international laboratory design conferences and has been involved in reviews of various standards laboratories and standards committee writing. I founded both Pynenburg & Collins in 1982 and Lab-Works in 1999, which I was the managing director of till the end of 2024.
I am known for my dedication to creating functional, personalized spaces. With expertise in commercial, residential, and scientific facility design, I combine practical architecture with a passion for problem-solving and mentorship.
My work is grounded in open communication, respect, and trust, aiming to help clients realize their vision of an ideal space. Everyone has a different version of their best space – there’s no one answer. For me it’s feeling safe and comfortable. I want to help others find theirs; a place where they can grow

This 2013 development for Victoria University of Wellington was awarded the S-Lab 2013 Highly Commended International Laboratory Building Award.
This 2018 project designed for Plant & Food Research and Port Nelson was honored with the NZIA Nelson/Marlborough Architecture Award.
In 2021 Massey University's Manawatū Campus won two NZIA Western Architecture Awards, including one in the Education category and a Resene Colour
This 2013 Project was awarded the S-Lab 2013 Laboratory building award
In 2014, the redevelopment of this premise was awarded S-Lab 2014 Refurbished Laboratory Building Award
This 2018 project was awarded the NZIA Architecture Award for the three story admin building which was part of a wider proposed Veterinary Complex development
